Recruitment Counselors (RC)

You will not be going through the recruitment process alone! Once you begin registration, you will automatically be entered into a recruitment group with RCs who are here to guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have! Follow their instagram @txst_recruitmentcounselors to get to know them and for recruitment updates!

Understanding the Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA)
The Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA) is the document that is signed by the PNM after making their final selections after the Preference Round. It is broken into six parts which each PNM will be talked through by a TXST Staff member or volunteer as they sign the document.

We recommend that each PNM review the MRABA before registering for recruitment. Below are links to the National Panhellenic Conference’s resources for understanding the MRABA. One of the biggest takeaways is to consider is that if the MRABA is signed after the preference round and the PNM chooses not to accept the bid from the chapter which she receives a bid, she is not able to go through COB in the Fall or Spring. The PNM must wait to go through recruitment until the next Primary Recruitment period.

Commitments
Before and During Recruitment
All PNMs are required to attend Day 0: Orientation, each day of recruitment, and the parties that they are invited back to. Not attending an event could lead to the PNM being removed from the recruitment process.

If there is a schedule conflict, the PNM will need to fill out the “Recruitment Conflict Form” and email it to panhellenic@txstate.edu by August 27th, 2024. If you need the form, please ask your RC to send it to you.

The Fraternity Sorority Life Office requires all members joining an organization to have a 2.5 GPA at the time of joining. All PNMs will have grade checks conducted by the FSL Office so if you register for recruitment and have a GPA below a 2.5, you will be notified via emailed and released from the process.

There is an $85 registration fee that must be paid to be eligible to participate in the recruitment process. The fee covers costs for the Sisterhood shirt, food for the weekend, transportation from Strahan Arena to the chapter houses on bid day, and other miscellaneous costs. This fee is non-refundable! The link to pay will be sent via email once you submit your registration.

Once you are fully registered for recruitment, meaning the application on Campus Director is completed, the registration fee has been paid, and all required forms are signed an uploaded, you will be contacted by your Recruitment Counselor (RC)! RCs are members of the Panhellenic Council who help the PNMs through the recruitment process. You will be assigned to a group, and they will be there to answer any questions you have!

For a further breakdown of financial obligations by chapter and new member vs general member dues, please check pages 27-29 of the Potential New Member Guidebook!

After Recruitment

To find out about time commitments, it is helpful to ask members during recruitment. For general members, there is a meeting each week and usually one other event, whether it’s a philanthropy, social, or sisterhood event.

Academics in the reason that we are here at Texas State University! Each chapter prioritizes academics and provides resources for their members to exceed academically. Every national organization requires their members to maintain specific GPAs that differ from chapter to chapter and range from 2.5 to 3.0 and host study events and/or require study hours.

Financial commitments vary by chapter, semester dues range from $1,100 to $2,190. Each chapter also has expectations for members or officers to live in their house!
